The key to enjoying nightlife in Hong Kong is having deep pockets. Many bars and clubs here seem to deem their worth by how much they can overcharge their patrons. But you won’t get nary a complaint from the majority of the crowds. They wouldn’t be caught dead at a happy hour so many bars here simply don’t have them. But that doesn’t mean you can’t have fun at night in Hong Kong, there are a million things to do and the city is awash in color, light and energy. Just don’t forget your wallet in your hotel room or you’ll be having a very short night.

1. Yumla - Lower Basement, Harilela House, 79 Wyndham Street Hong Kong - website

It may come as a surprise to some people, but you can combine casual, neighborhood bar and trendy night spot, and Yumla is proof.

2. Rice Bar - Jervois Street Central Hong Kong - website

One of the few gay and lesbian hangouts in the city, Rice Bar actually has some of the best drink deals in the city.

3. One-Fifth - 9 Star Street Wanchai Hong Kong - website

One of the many super fashionable spots in the city, they don’t let everyone in, so you had better come dressed to impress.

4. Kee Club - 6/F, 32 Wellington Street Central Hong Kong - website

Finally, a place for adults and not 20-somethings. Drink in the dark interiors and the classic art on the walls while you enjoy a drink in peace.

5. Feather Boa - 38 Staunton Street Soho Hong Kong - website

Feather Boa provides a little of everything including a friend for the night, if you know what I mean.

6. Drop - 39-43 Hollywood Road Soho Hong Kong - website

If you can get past the door, you may be treated to some of the best music and hottest drinks in the city. Good luck.

7. Charter Lounge - 1/F Ritz Carlton 3 Connaught Road Hong Kong - website

As if the Ritz-Carlton could be anything less than over the top opulent, the Charter Lounge meets and exceeds expectations.

8. C - Basement, 30-32 D'Aguilar Street Central Hong Kong - website

A loud, obnoxious pick up bar that spins dance music until you’re ready to fall over, it is a good spot if you want to forget about your day.

9. Backroom - 8 Arbthnot Road Central Hong Kong - website

You almost have to know someone to get into this tiny space located behind the famous Veda restaurant, but it is worth the haggle for the feeling of exclusivity it brings.

10. Antidote - 19 Hollywood Road Ezra Lane Hong Kong - website

With a crazy décor and a light show that might make you fall down after a few cocktails, Antidote is worth the visit just for the head trip.
